Design Gangsta

I am getting a great kick out of this video tonight! I've seen it before, but maybe I am so tired from working all weekend that it just seems funnier than ever! So much in fact, that I've shared it on two of my three blogs! Yup, loving the Design Gangsta video! :)

DIY Hot Pad Tutorial from My Byrd House

With my newest obsession being fabric it only makes sense that I start obsessing about learning how to sew, right?? Just what my husband wants to hear - new obsession = new things to buy. Hey, it SAVES money in the long run right? I mean I WOULD be making things I would normally have to buy at full retail price...things like hot pads, curtains, gifts - oh the possibilities!

Anyways, this great little DIY hot pad tutorial is from Lucy at My Byrd House and looks like something I might be able to tackle (with a sewing machine of course!).

Thanks to the wonderful Craftzine for getting me there!

Planting Color and Patterns in the Garden

Looks at this lovely bloom from HeirloomGardener, isn't it too lovely for words?! Our fall blooms are pretty weak - all we have going for us right now is hyssop, lavender and sedum autumn joy. But this - ah this is beautiful! Only question now is what is it? I need to find it!

Amy Atlas Events Eye Candy

Now this is the kind of attention to detail that I love, as a designer, when it comes to planning events - even if it is just a little shin dig at my place. Love it! Check this ideas and more eye candy at Amy Atlas Events.

Hugging Harold the Lunch Monster

I am an absolute sucker for playful lunch bags like this from Etsy artist OneandZerosFashions - hopefully they will get more in stock soon! Love how the arms are the straps and how they snap apart. :) And the eyes! They must be the snaps that hold the opening shut - hehe!

Thanks to Haute*Nature for sharing!

Clipart Inspiration

Need inspiration - clipart isn't always your best bet, but sometimes it can at least get you thinking in the right direction...and just look at the lovely clips above...from Clipart Etc, an online service of Florida's Educational Technology Clearinghouse. This online resource contains a great amount of historic images. Looks as though only teachers and students can use up to 50 items in a single, non-commercial project without further permission- but you might find some inspiration here for your own project.

Thanks to How About Orange for pointing me in that direction.

Etsy Find: Seaglass Necklace from SeaFindDesigns

I love anything that has to do with the beach (except dead jelly fish of course!) - whenever I go to the ocean I always come back with bits of driftwood, seashells and the like. But the idea of making bits of beautiful, smooth and milky seaglass into jewelry....apparently I am more landlocked that I though because I hadn't thought of that. And wow, are these pieces from Etsy artist SeaFindDesigns are just beautiful! A definite at to my Christmas list this year (hubby are you listening?).
